The Legandarium is a SFW, for-profit, physical zine dedicated to fairy tales and classic mythology. There will be a side zine that explores mythical creatures such as dragons, mermaids, serpents, oni, etc.The Legendarium zine does not own Genshin Impact or any related media. This is an unofficial fan project that is unaffiliated with Hoyoverse or any characters, voice actors, or employees of the company.

WHAT IS A ZINE?

A zine is short for “fanzine” or “magazine.” Creators from a fandom collaborate together to create an unofficial collection of fanworks based on a theme, character, or ship.

WHAT TYPE OF CONTENT IS THE LEGENDARIUM INCLUDING?

The Legendarium is a zine dedicated to classical fairy tales and world mythology. There will be a side zine that explores mythical creatures.This zine includes:

Fairy tales – drawing inspiration from Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, Lewis Carrol, etc.
Classical myths – Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Norse, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Medieval Europe, and all other ancient civilization mythology are welcome.
Mythical creatures – mythical beasts and beings from mythology and great legends. These may include but are not limited to: dragons, minotaurs, faes, lochfolk, etc.

This zine will feature AU content and, while we respect and acknowledge the mythical basis of Genshin characters, the zine may feature works which will deviate from Genshin’s mythical lore.

IS THIS ZINE GOING TO BE PHYSICAL OR DIGITAL?

We are currently aiming to create a physical+digital main zine with an additional physical/digital side zine, however, final decisions will depend on the interest check results.

WHAT IS THE RATING FOR THIS ZINE?

The zine is SFW (safe for work) & the rating will be strictly PG-16.

WILL SHIPS BE ALLOWED AND FEATURED?

As the theme of the zine is inherently romantic, the zine will allow romantic relationships between characters, however, their relationship should not be the focus of the piece. Overt displays of romance will not be included. All platonic relationships are welcome. We will not include any ships with child-model/canonically children characters.

HOW MANY CONTRIBUTORS WILL YOU BE ACCEPTING?

This will depend on the interest check results, however, we are currently considering 25-30 page artists, 7-10 writers and poets, and 5-6 merch artists, including guests.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Anyone over 16 years of age by the time contributor applications end is free to apply, regardless of previous zine experience. We welcome anyone who speaks languages other than English to apply for all roles, however, we ask that all written works for the zine to be in English.

HOW WILL PROFITS BE DISTRIBUTED?

All contributors will receive a digital PDF of the zine. All profits will be evenly distributed among the mods and contributors. If the zine is unable to break even with sales, we will offer the zine and its merch items at production costs to contributors. Due to paypal’s regulations that state that all users must be over 18 years of age, those who are younger than 18 may not be able to collect their portion. It may instead be donated to a charity of their choosing.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

All contributors must be at least 16 years of age.
All participants will be required to have Discord as it will be the main form of communication between the Moderator Team and participants.
Please create new, original works for the zine piece (no reuploads). While contributors retain the rights to their piece, during the zine’s production and creation, we will implement an exclusivity clause and ask contributors not to post their piece publicly. A small snippet or preview, up to 25% of the piece may be shared during certain periods of the zine creation. This is to ensure the contents of the zine are not spoiled before distribution.
English will be the main language of production, however, all language creators are welcome, but you must be able to create content and communicate in English.
Applicants may apply for more than one position, but will only be accepted for one. Separate applications must be submitted if applying for multiple positions.
Please list any trigger warnings/content warnings for your submitted portfolio and example pieces such as: implied animal cruelty/death, character death, especially graphic violence, problematic phobias/philias, as well as other sensitive content.
While the zine is SFW, NSFW samples and portfolio pieces are allowed so long as they are properly tagged. Untagged or improperly tagged pieces will NOT be considered for review and may affect our consideration of the application.
Portfolios must be fully accessible. If you are using Google Drive, use incognito mode to ensure the sharing link is set to “anyone can view.”
Having at least one pitch is highly encouraged. Pitches can be of any length and page and merch artists can submit pitches either with words or as a rough sketch. Pitches are not final, and everyone will be given an opportunity to change them upon acceptance.
In the event of a tie, we will consider the applicant’s portfolio, the samples’ relevance to the zine’s theme, and the proposed pitches.

PAGE ARTISTS

Please submit three samples of art.
At least 1 piece should showcase a Genshin character
At least 1 sample should have a complete and detailed background
Pieces including myths, fairy tales, and beasts are encouraged but not necessary
Please submit a portfolio of 5+ works, which can include those used as samples
Samples will be judged by their use of color, composition, anatomy, and backgrounds.

WRITERS

You must submit three samples with a maximum word count of 3000 words each.
Samples must have between 1000 and 3000 with a leeway of 100 words. For poets, the minimum is 14 lines and the maximum is 32 lines
At least 1 piece should include a Genshin character
Samples should showcase the style you wish to write for the zine
Pieces including myths, fairy tales, and beasts are encouraged but not necessary
Please submit a portfolio of 5+ works, which can include those used as samples
Your portfolio must not exceed more than 13k total words
Samples will be judged on their use of syntax, pacing, characterisation, and proficiency in telling a story within a limited word count

MERCH ARTISTS

Please provide three samples
At least one sample should contain a Genshin Impact character
Pieces including myths, fairy tales, and beasts are encouraged but not necessary
Please submit a portfolio of 8+ works, which can include those used as samples. Submitting a wide variety of merch is strongly encouraged
OPTIONAL: If you are interested in creating digital merch please include in your samples or portfolio digital merch examples including any one of: wallpapers, emotes, animated GIFs etc.
Samples will be used to judge overall colour, composition, and style
